Raw Earth inspiration: A Tribute to Guatemala’s Colors

During my journey through Guatemala, I was captivated by the striking beauty of its villages and cities. Each house painted in its own bold hue. Some freshly coated like the vibrant streets of Flores, others worn by time like the textured facades of Antigua. Here, the past reveals itself in layers. Erosion creeping up from the ground, paint peeling off, time leaving its undeniable mark.

This contrast between color and decay became the inspiration for my latest Raw Earth, a Tribute to Guatemala’s Colors. A series of four works (each 53 x 40 cm). Like the walls of Guatemala, these paintings hold depth, layers built up and worn down, traces of history and nature intertwined.

When you walk by too fast, you may see only a colored wall. If you pause for a moment and you look longer, look deeper and look beyond you see will more.
